LHS won 12 of the 16 events on the day and completely dominated on the track. — Wicked Local Lexington Winchester Hospital marks 100 years with anniversary celebrationOn May 8, Winchester Hospital celebrated its 100th anniversary with the grand opening of its 620 Washington St. campus, which includes the recently opened Center for Cancer Care and the new ambulatory surgery center scheduled to open in July. About 400 people attended the ribbon cutting and anniversary party for the hospital, which was founded on March 11, 1912, by the Visiting Nurses Association. — Wicked Local Winchester Winchester schools too packed to delay redistrictingThe Winchester Redistricting Committee may recommend an exception for fourth-grade students entering their final year of elementary school — but not for other students, said Cindy Bohne, a member of the School Committee and Redistricting Advisory Committee. “Our goal — somehow, some way — will be to grandfather [incoming] fifth-grade students,” Winchester Superintendent William McAlduff said. “It is something that we’ll be looking at very seriously.” However, Winchester’s elementary schools are in dire need of extra space and desperately need to change elementary school boundaries to take advantage of the nine new classrooms that will become available at the new, larger Vinson Owen School and at Lynch School, McAlduff said. — Wicked Local Winchester Lexington High baseball falls in extra inningsSo far, the spring season has not gone according to plan.
