Westwood selectmen weigh automated trash removal, 1-stream recycling
The talk at the Westwood Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night was rubbish — rubbish removal, that is. With the town’s solid waste removal contract expiring in March, the board’s priority for the next contract is overhauling the current system. The board expressed interest in switching to a single-stream recycling program, where residents no longer have to separate their recyclables into glass, paper and metal categories. Instead, all recyclables are put curbside in a single bin, which encourages more recycling and therefore lessens the impact on the environment. — Wicked Local Westwood
