Land acquisition to come before Town Meeting
The Middleton Board of Selectmen and the Conservation Commission will ask Town Meeting members to purchase a 18.7-acre parcel of land, located at 121 East Street, from the J and E Family Trust at the annual Town Meeting May 8 at the Howe-Manning School. The Middleton Planning Board has agreed not to recommend Article 28, the land purchase. Chair Chris Lindberg said, “I am not in favor of purchasing a property that we cannot use other than for a vista. If we don’t purchase it, it will always stay a vista because it cannot be built on.” Town Administrator Ira Singer said the land has been appraised at $100,000. Rail Trail proposed in Middleton
Borders to Boston rail trails have been popping up all over the North Andover Town line on Sharpners Pond Road and runs southeasterly to the Danvers Town line behind the Essex Agricultural School. The trail, which would extend for approximately five miles, is on property owned by various parties including the National Grid Corporation and town of Danvers. — Wicked Local Middleton

Ebsco has a new Route 1 location in Topsfield
In April EBSCO Publishing’s President Tim Collins expanded his thriving business to a new location on Route 1 in his hometown of Topsfield.  Collins says the EBSCO expansion plans call for a high number of technology positions. The new Route 1 building and its data center, located at 376 Boston St., will be for those employees. — Wicked Local Topsfield

Ebsco gives back to the town
Ebsco Publishing donated $15,000 to the Topsfield School Committee on May 10 for technology upgrades at the Proctor and Steward Schools. The donation comes on the heels of the Elementary School Technology Infrastructure upgrades recently passed at the annual Town Meeting. The company’s President Tim Collins, a Topsfield native and current resident, presented the check last week to the School Committee.   — Wicked Local Topsfield
