It was not a week that the North Andover boys tennis team would conjure up in their memory banks anytime soon. Milling and Rilling Around: Facelift for the Hawthorne Fountain?
Salem’s Town House Square at Essex and Washington Streets is a fine spot for milling around, i.e. resting. This is because it is a natural congregation point.  Here one edge of the relaxed Essex Street pedestrian mall meets the outside city with its busy traffic.  On sunny days, people sit in chairs near the Fountain Place and Rockefella’s restaurants, as well as on benches beside a fountain. They soak up the sun and watch people pass by.  As if to mark the place as a “milling” place, an old French millstone is set into the pavement nearby. — Wicked Local Salem

Rail Trail proposed in Middleton
Borders to Boston rail trails have been popping up all over the North Andover Town line on Sharpners Pond Road and runs southeasterly to the Danvers Town line behind the Essex Agricultural School. The trail, which would extend for approximately five miles, is on property owned by various parties including the National Grid Corporation and town of Danvers. — Wicked Local Middleton

Middleton police praised by DA’s prosecutor
Essex Assistant District Attorney John Brennan has praised the work of Middleton Police Chief James DiGianvittorio and Middleton Police Officers Michael Lecolst and Michele Nowak in the case of a Winthrop man who was sentenced to prison last week afer pleading guilty to armed robbery. Salem Superior Court Judge Timothy Feeley last Friday sentenced Darin Bufalino, 51, of Winthrop, to 7 years to 7 years-and-a-day in state prison, after Bufalino pleaded guilty to armed robbery. — Wicked Local Middleton
